Asked for an electrical report by your insurer? Confirm the required document, scope and deadline before arranging an inspection in Essex.

For an assessment or quotation, see our EICR inspections in Essex. The service page explains how to discuss the work for your property.

Ask the insurer for the request in writing

An insurance-related electrical enquiry should start with the policy wording or the insurer’s specific request. Confirm the document required, the installation to be covered and any deadline. Do not assume every insurer requires the same report or contractor credentials.

Distinguish the documents

An EICR assesses an existing fixed installation within an agreed scope. An installation certificate records relevant new work. A report about damage or the cause of an incident can be a different assignment again. Send the actual request so the proposed service matches its purpose.

Confirm scope and acceptance before booking

Ask the insurer whether the proposed assessment and provider meet their requirements. Explain previous damage, alterations and available records to the electrician. An inspection cannot promise that an insurer will accept a claim or change its policy decision.

Keep evidence and work records

Retain the full report, photographs already available and documentation of completed repairs. Do not disturb damaged electrical equipment to collect evidence. Where an incident has occurred, follow the insurer’s instructions about assessment and authorisation of remedial work.

Prepare an Essex enquiry

Send your postcode, the insurer’s written request and any existing electrical report. We can discuss whether an EICR, remedial quotation or another service is appropriate. Check policy questions directly with your insurer or adviser.
