Electrical fault finding in Essex
Repeated tripping, intermittent power and faulty lights need a diagnosis. We investigate electrical problems, explain what we find and agree the repair before carrying out additional work.

Find the cause before choosing the repair
Electrical problems we investigate
Repeated tripping, loss of power to part of a property, unreliable lighting and damaged accessories can have several causes. Tell us what changed, which circuits are affected and whether the issue is intermittent. Do not repeatedly reset a circuit that trips again.
Diagnosis and repair are different stages
We inspect and test to isolate the cause, then explain the repair required. A diagnostic visit is not a promise that every repair or replacement part is included. We confirm the charging basis, time allowance and any further work with you.
Access and disruption
We may need access to the consumer unit, affected sockets, fixed appliances and cable routes. Testing can interrupt power. Tell us about critical equipment and who can provide access; keep children and pets away from the work area.
Records for the work carried out
The documentation depends on the repair or alteration. A minor works certificate may be appropriate for an alteration that does not introduce a new circuit; more extensive installation work needs different certification. An investigation alone is not a full EICR.
Send useful fault information
Include your postcode, a description of the symptoms, when they started and photographs taken without opening equipment. If there is fire, smoke or immediate danger, move away and use the appropriate emergency service. For urgent electrical attendance, call rather than waiting for an online reply.
Further information: IET electrical certificates and reports and Building Regulations Part P guidance. The documentation depends on the work undertaken.
