A consumer unit upgrade starts with the installation

Who the service is for

For homeowners, landlords and businesses considering replacement of an older or damaged fusebox, or changes needed for a planned installation. A new consumer unit is not a substitute for checking the wiring and earthing connected to it.

Assessment and quotation

We assess the supply, earthing and bonding, circuits, available space and existing test information. The number of circuits and any faults that need remedial work affect the quote. Protective devices are selected for the installation and current requirements; the same equipment is not appropriate for every job.

Preparing for the work

The electrical supply needs to be isolated during replacement and testing. Clear access to the board, meter area and relevant sockets or fixed equipment is needed. Tell us about medical equipment, refrigeration, alarms or business systems that need continuity planning.

Testing and documentation

Replacement includes inspection and testing of the connected circuits to the agreed scope. Unsafe defects may need correction before a circuit can be reconnected. An Electrical Installation Certificate and applicable Building Regulations notification are separate parts of the handover.

What to send

Send your postcode, a clear photograph of the closed consumer unit and meter area, why you want it changed and any existing EICR. Do not remove covers to take photographs.
